Salmon Fishing

At 7am on Wednesday May 13th, I fished the middle Eden at Armathwaite. It had been falling for three days but still 2'3" on the gauge - too big for wading and fly fishing in most pools. There were no fish showing, but I hooked a fish around 12.40pm. After spinning, it landed and released a nice 10lb cock fish. Unfortunately it was showing serious predator damage in front of the anal fin; most likely from a seal. Hopefully the fish would survive its ordeals. I had to leave mid afternoon, so I called the keeper and asked him to offer the evening's fishing to Alan. I was delighted to hear he had caught a 9lb fish later that day. It was good to see a few more springers in the Eden, and tight lines to two more friends that are fishing the beat this week. Good luck to them. By Julian Shaw, our shop manager.
