Our questions today is - Which should you use, standard or large arbour fly reels?
Standard Arbour
These reels hold masses of backing but are generally smaller in diameter. The main disadvantages to this is the fly line is held in small tight coils which reduces your retrieval rate per revolution. Also more memory will form within the fly line, regardless of its quality.
Large Arbour
The large arbor reel is the most modern type of design. They have a much bigger diameter and width therefore allowing for a good backing capacity and a very fast retrieval rate. This subsequently reduces the fly line memory. These reels are highly machined to reduce weight as much as possible without compromising structural stability.
